Just the Other Day
By Patricia Wilson-Cone, ACPE Certified Educator  |  September 3, 2018

Just the other day I saw another innocent soul get killed
Just other day I heard Aretha Franklin singing RESPECT
Just the other day I heard Senator John McCain Farwell speech
Just the other day I heard Serena justifying the suit she would like to play in
Just the other day I heard the voices of children saying I’m looking forward to learning from my teacher
Just the other day I realized its women right to VOTE
Just the other day I heard someone apologize and owned they were wrong
Just the other day I heard dogs barking and cats meowing
Just the other day I felt the rain upon my face and that same day the sun came out so BRIGHT
Just the other day I was eating collard greens and corn bread
Just the other day I saw homeless people downtown
Just the other day someone said they believe in Diversity, Justice and Equal Rights
Just the other day I realized that weeping may endure for a night but JOY comes out in the morning
Just the other day I was able to hear, to smell, to feel, to think…
Just the other day a friend shared that her mother had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s
Just the other day I looked in your eyes
Just the other day you never said a mumbling word
Now here we are today and I’m wondering what day is it
Is it just another day…or is it the other day
It’s in Clinical Pastoral Education where we talk about all these days…
