Professional Well-Being Committee and Community of Practice Update
ACPE News | November 21, 2017
The Board of Directors appointed the Professional Well-Being Committee (PWB) a couple of months ago so the committee has only met by phone two times in 2017. We have been broadly charged to support organizational and professional well-being through the development of programs, attention to inclusion and diversity, innovation, and the support of communities of practice. In a very short time, we have learned to emphasize professional well-being in our efforts and that communities of practice are one of many methods of educational support to explore.
The PWB has been working with the national office to streamline and develop the structural process to support our communities of practice. In this inaugural year, we recognize the need to develop clear guidelines for the membership to create and maintain communities with a sense of purpose and vitality.
After reviewing the board approved budget, the PWB is in conversation with the Finance Committee to clarify financial limits and develop funding guidelines more fully. All funding requests will be vetted by the Professional Well-Being Committee as meeting priorities and standard financial guidelines.
As of November 20, 2017 we have 40 applications for Communities of Practice across our membership. In broad categories, they fall into the following types:
