ACPE Mission to Israel
ACPE News  | December 2016

As a new initiative focusing special attention on the professional well-being of our Supervisors, we are proud to share this unique opportunity to travel together. In late January 2018 (specific dates to be determined), ACPE will be hosting a mission to Israel, a unique country that is home to many religions. This is a voluntary trip that is open to members of ACPE and their spouses/partners/significant others.

The mission will be a 10-day experience designed to foster community, offer opportunities for learning, to engage with one another, to experience the holy sites of Judaism, Christianity and Islam as well as the modern state of Israel, and to have professional opportunities to engage with colleagues in Israel who are in the emerging field of spiritual care with site visits to centers.

In order to determine if we will have the minimum number of participants, we need to hear from you by January 31, 2017. Please email marc@acpe.edu expressing your interest. Once we know that we have enough potential participants to make the trip a reality, we can finalize the dates and cost and begin a sign-up process that will include a deposit to hold your space.

For more information, contact Marc Medwed, ACPE Program Manager at marc@acpe.edu.
Some Details:
  • The final dates are not yet set but will be in the near future.
  • Per-person cost will be approximately $2,000 - $2200 for the land only portion and is based on a minimum of 25 participants. Additional spaces will be added incrementally so as not to impact the per-person cost dramatically. As the trip is a little more than a year away, we cannot yet set a final price.
  • Participants are responsible for arranging their own flights to Tel Aviv. Our Tour Company in Israel is available to assist individuals to ensure that arrival times are consistent with the schedule. Flight prices at this time of year average about $1200.
  • The land cost includes the following:
    • The cost is based on 3-4 star hotel- 2 people in a room.
    • Breakfast every day + 1 other meal (participants are responsible for additional meals and snacks).
    • Licensed Tour Guide, Coach Bus, Entrance Fees, Lectures and Speakers.
    • Water bottles provided every day.
Participants of the mission will have the opportunity to choose from the following optional add-ons:
  1. Fly to Israel earlier or stay in Israel longer if you wish to spend additional time there.  Suggestions for hotels and itinerary options are available upon request.  Participants will be on their own to secure and pay for reservations.
  2. Travel first to Poland for 3-4 days where you will learn about the vibrant Jewish life that existed before the Holocaust through visits to historic cemeteries, tours of towns where Jewish communities once thrived and in the majestic synagogues that have been preserved. Then, tour the Warsaw Ghetto and walk through Nazi concentration camps as the focus shifts to the Holocaust and its aftermath. The land cost for this add-on will be approximately $800 - $900. Participants are responsible for flight arrangements.
