What you will do:

  • Oversees the delivery of effective Spiritual Care services
  • Manages/coaches chaplains across continuum of care within local community
  • Participates directly in provision of Spiritual Care

What you will need:

  • Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) via one of the following licensing groups: APC, CASC, NACC, or NAJC.
  • 3 years of professional team/project leadership experience
  • 2 years of progressively responsible experience managing projects and process improvement initiatives in the area of Spiritual Care or a related field
  • Pastoral experience is required. At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare ministry is preferred

Help launch a brand new Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) certified Center in Central Florida (Lakeland) as the Founding Manager of Clinical Pastoral Education at Lakeland Regional Health.

The Manager of Clinical Pastoral Education reports to the Director of Pastoral Services and Ethics and is responsible for the direction and the operation of the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program for Lakeland Regional Health.

Responsibilities include:
• The manager conducts CPE programs under the standards of the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE)
• Responsible for maintaining the accreditation with the ACPE for Lakeland Regional Health (LRH) as a CPE Center, leading the processes related to accreditation
• Develops curriculum, supervises students' clinical work, provides educational opportunities and evaluates students
• Oversees the recruitment process for students
• Provides requested data to the finance department regarding Medicare reimbursement
• Works collaboratively with LRH staff chaplains who provide mentoring to CPE students
• Acts as resource for the ongoing professional development of LRH chaplains
• Works closely with the Professional Advisory Group (PAG) in program evaluation and development
• Takes responsibility for the delivery of patient, family, student, and staff care as assigned
• Performs other duties as assigned

• Masters degree in Theology, Divinity or Pastoral Counseling required
• Prefer experience starting a Clinical Pastoral Education program from the beginning, and leading the program through the initial accreditation process. Or, having 3-5 years experience as a ACPE Certified Educator.

• ACPE Certified Educator
• Board Certified Chaplain or eligible to be board certified by either the Association of Professional Chaplains, Canadian Association for Spiritual Care, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, or National Association of Jewish Chaplains.

We are seeking a Chaplain Education Coordinator - The Chaplain Education Coordinator is responsible for providing emotional and spiritual care to patients and family members, and to hospital staff. In addition, the Chaplain Coordinator trains and supervises chaplains as part of the department's Clinical Pastoral Education Program and assists in administrative functions of the department.

What Are We Looking For?
Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent degree from a theological seminary.
Ordination or equivalent and endorsement for hospital chaplaincy and/or ACPE Education
Board certification (or eligible) in the Association of Professional Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, National Association of Jewish Chaplains, or Association of Muslim Chaplains.
Certification as Associate Certified Educator or Certified Educator by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE). May consider candidates who are ACPE Certified Education Candidates near the end of Phase II.
Parish ministry experience highly desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills required in interactions with patients and families, department and hospital staff, external clergy, and the public.
Ability to respond appropriately in sensitive situations.

Founding Clinical Pastoral Educator/Faculty Position

Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is seeking applicants for a faculty position in Clinical Pastoral Education at the rank of assistant or associate professor with an anticipated start date of May 2020. The faculty member will primarily serve in launching and supervising a credit-based clinical pastoral education program that aims to attain ACPE accreditation.  As a member of FranU’s theology department, opportunities to teach theology courses at the undergraduate and graduate level and provide deaconate and lay formation for the Diocese of Baton Rouge also exist.  Part-time workload dedicated for service as chaplain at Our Lady of Lake Regional Medical Center will be built into the position. The person in this position must function in accordance with the philosophy and mission of the University ( and the Catholic Ethical and Religious Directives. Roman catholic candidates must be eligible and willing to apply for a mandatum in accordance with Ex corde Ecclesiae. Clergy/Religious are welcome and encouraged to apply.
