PeaceHealth is looking for a talented Certified Pastoral Educator to conduct Clinical Pastoral Education under the accreditation of the ACPE. This is an exciting opportunity that works in collaboration with Mission Service leaders to promote and integrate the mission and formation of programs locally.

The ideal candidate will be able to develop curriculums, recruit students, supervise students’ clinical experience, provide educational opportunities, and evaluate students. The incumbent will also be able to actively engage and participate with the regional and national ACPE to maintain program accreditation and educator certification status.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Develops an education program that emphasizes student-centered learning and mutual respect.
  2. Conducts admissions interviews and communicates admission decisions.
  3. Designs and implements curriculum for student-centered learning.
  4. Provides coaching and supervision of students; assigns, reviews, and comments on students’ written materials in a timely manner.
  5. Evaluate the students’ personal and professional functioning, writes evaluative reports in accordance with ACPE standards, and completes ACPE registration forms for students who complete their program.
  6. In consultation with the chair, facilitates and attends meetings of Pastoral Care and Education Advisory Committee to inform members of the educational activities and receive advice about maintaining standards of excellence in the CPE program
  7. Maintains ACPE standards for accreditation of Clinical Pastoral Education program.
  8. Collaborates with the institution’s Manager of Spiritual Care or other designated administrator to provide pastoral care coverage and participate in other spiritual care programs as assigned.
  9. Ensures education provided is within the context of the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic health care and the Mission and Values of PeaceHealth and Pastoral and Spiritual Care Services.

Opportunity – Compassion-Centered Spiritual Health Fellowship Program with Spiritual Health Emory Healthcare

Spiritual Health at Emory Healthcare is pleased to announce a two (2) year Compassion-Centered Spiritual Health (CCSH) Fellowship program beginning in September 2019. CCSH is a research-based method to alleviate distress in patients and families and to mitigate burnout in healthcare professionals. CCSH Fellows will engage in a developing program to become registered interventionists in CCSH while working toward professional goals in spiritual health disciplines (e.g., Board Certification with APC, and strategic partners). CCSH Fellows will be expected to work approximately 35 hours/week in clinical service in a designated treatment area, and will receive approximately 5 hours/week in training in CCSH and consultation toward spiritual health vocational goals.  While the application for this fellowship requires 4 units of CPE, this is a post CPE fellowship where no units of CPE are granted. This unique opportunity allows for specialization in the expanding professional field of Spiritual Health. The goal of this new program is to offer successful participants the opportunity to become registered as CCSH interventionists.

Advertisement for Faculty Position
Assistant Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling March 22, 2019

Christian Theological Seminary (CTS) invites applications and nominations for an opening in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The program is committed to the formation of students as self-reflective, social-justice oriented, multiculturally competent and spiritually integrated practitioners. Core faculty work collaboratively with colleagues in other CTS counseling and theological programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will be a full-time, 3-year term with the possibility of renewal, with faculty rank at the Assistant level. The faculty workload consists of teaching the equivalent of 3/2 courses per year and may include counseling supervision/field experience courses. The successful candidate will likely assume the role of Program Director of the MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program after the first year and take the lead in the faculty’s collaborative preparation for the program’s CACREP accreditation.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will

  • Have an earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Counselor Education & Supervision from a CACREP-accredited doctoral program (ABDs in their last semester considered).
  • Possess a secondary theology degree (e.g., MDiv, DMin or MA) and be prepared to teach students enrolled in counseling courses from other CTS degree programs.
  • Provide evidence of a strong commitment to the integration of theological reflection and social justice principles with the healing wisdom found in counseling, psychology, and the social sciences.
  • Contribute a specialization in addictions counseling.
  • Possess skills necessary for administering a counseling program, conducting ongoing program evaluation and for leading a program accreditation process. Prior accreditation experience is a plus.
  • Be a licensed or license-eligible mental health counselor and be able to provide counselor supervision.
  • Demonstrate success in having taught graduate level courses.
  • Show a record of, or promise for, scholarly activity and service to a graduate theological educational institution.

Job Responsibilities
A crucial role within the Pastoral Services Department, our Supervisor, CPE will collaborate with leadership to assist in the administration an delivery of the Clinical Pastoral Education Program including maintaining compliance with national educational standards.  This individual will provide supervision and instruction to Clinical Pastoral Education students and work closely with the Director of Pastoral Services and the Manager of CPE to develop and evaluate CPE curriculum that provides high quality educational opportunities for students and excellent pastoral care for patients, families, and staff.

As a staff member focused on outreach, this individual will work with the Manager of CPE to develop and maintain relationships with the religious community outside of the hospital including maintaining healthy relationships with his/her denomination, national and regional CPE bodies, and any other professional credentialing associations required for continuing endorsement and standing.     

As a department leader, this individual will assist with recruiting, hiring, and supervising CPE residents and students, as well as attracting members to the Pastoral Advisory Committee as needed.
