, Vermont’s academic medical center and founding member of the University of Vermont Health Network, seeks a Interfaith Chaplain.
The University of Vermont Medical Center is located in Burlington, Vermont, a small vibrant city situated on the shore of beautiful Lake Champlain.
The Interfaith Chaplain functions as a member of the Spiritual Care team in the Spiritual Care Department. In this role s/he is responsible for providing spiritual care to patients, families and staff of all faiths throughout the organization in accordance with the mission and vision of the Spiritual Care Department and the organization. The Interfaith Chaplain provides routinely interfaith spiritual care through visitation and crisis intervention. S/he offers prayer upon request, leads interfaith worship and memorial services, offers bereavement care and staff support. S/he participates in interdisciplinary meetings and rounds that foster collaborative care in the organization.
Master's Degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Divinity or Spirituality or its equivalent from an accredited Theological School, Seminary or Graduate School. At least four units of Clinical Pastoral Education in ACPE or approved accredited centers. Certification or work toward certification (within two years of hire) by APC, NACC, CASC or NAJC. Authorization to Provide Religious/Spiritual Services: Ordination or commissioning from recognized religious/spiritual organization and endorsement for hospital chaplaincy from judicatory body of religious/spiritual organization.
Two years’ experience in congregational ministry, or in institutional spiritual care such as campus ministry, military or long term care facilities, hospice or hospital chaplaincy.
