WELCOME

Dear Colleagues,

As Chair of the ACPE Board of Directors, it is my pleasure and honor to welcome you to the 2018 Annual Conference in the bustling and beautiful city of Atlanta, GA -- home of the world’s busiest airport and the prettiest springtime this side of heaven. This year’s theme is “The World Needs What We Know: Education, Research and the Future of ACPE.”

This is an exciting time for our organization, as we continue to live into the new structures and processes created over the past few years by multiple committees, task forces, and a re-energized membership. We have accomplished an enormous amount of work in the past couple of years because of our proficient leadership at many levels. With a modernized governance, reorganized national staff, and three ACPE Certified Educators serving as Directors of Community, Practice, and Member Development, we are poised to continue our role as the standard-bearers for quality spiritual care and education.

Our theme this year could not be more urgent. All of us are pressed in our day jobs with the tasks not only of providing the highest quality spiritual care, but also of being able to speak the language of effectiveness, outcomes, affordability, patient experience, and so much more. This year’s lineup promises to be inspiring, informative, and relevant to our daily work. And, of course, the joy of being together is paramount.

I look forward to seeing you at the Atlanta downtown Sheraton in May.
