Requirements: HS diploma, BS completion preferred, active member of a faith community. Summer units are normally filled with M.Div. candidates who have a seminary or denominational requirement to complete one unit of CPE.

Residents serve for one calendar year (August-August), completing three units of Clinical Pastoral Education. They receive a competitive stipend for their work, and do not pay tuition for the 3 units of CPE. Residents are provided additional benefits including medical/dental insurance, matched retirement savings and privileges as University of Washington employees.
Our clinical setting combines a Level 1 trauma center at Harborview and a highly specialized medical care facility at the University of Washington Medical Center. Residents lead spiritual care on clinical units in both medical centers, and graduates have been successful in pursuing board certification as chaplains.
