HealthCare Chaplaincy - Vice President Clinical Practice and Academic Affairs
The Vice President, Clinical Practice and Academic Affairs serves as the principal officer responsible for the management and growth of clinical, education and consultancy services for HealthCare Chaplaincy. The successful candidate will also work closely with our Spears Research Institute and play a significant role in the development of chaplaincy services at our future National Center. This responsibility entails developing, overseeing, implementing and presenting a strategic vision for these departments that is consistent with goals established by the Board of Trustees, the President, and the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer.
Supervisory Relationships:
The position supervises the Directors of Pastoral Care, Director of Support Services, Director of Continuing and Professional Education, Director Clinical Pastoral Education and an Administrative Assistant
Qualifications:
*Graduate degree: DMin, Masters in Public Administration or Health
*Board Certified Chaplaincy status – a plus but not required
*At least 5 years experience in managing clinical chaplaincy services
*Clinical Pastoral Education Supervisory status and at least 5 years managing clinical pastoral education and Supervisory Education programs a plus but not required. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
*Solid skills in teamwork and collaboration, must be able to work well with other senior leaders and the Board of Trustees
*Demonstrated effectiveness in dealing with client relationships
*National recognition in chaplaincy and chaplaincy education circles strongly preferred.

Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA - Chaplaincy Director
The Department of Chaplaincy is one of the highlights in the proud 200-year history of Massachusetts General Hospital. We are seeking a Director to build on this past, grow our dynamic present and lead into our cutting-edge future. The Director will manage and lead a large, full-service Chaplaincy providing invaluable care to our community of patients, families, care providers and staff. Responsibilities will include: manage the operations of and lead a multi-faith, diverse team of Chaplains who assure and provide for spiritual care at MGH, along with overseeing the work of the large cadre of volunteers who support those efforts. In addition, this position oversees the work of a CPE Supervisor and teaches in diverse hospital programs. Our Chaplaincy staff partner with the medical, nursing, social work, and various therapy providers and are thus well-integrated into the healthcare teams of our various inpatient units. As such, the Director and Staff Chaplains are involved in committees, task forces and initiatives both within the Division of Patient Care Services and organization-wide.

The ideal candidate will possess a commitment to managing daily operations (which includes the assistance of support/admin staff) along with developing new initiatives that support the spiritual needs of our patients, their families and our staff. In addition, an exquisite ability to listen, hear and understand the diverse traditions of this constituency while also possessing exceptional interpersonal/communication skills and highly refined judgment, are vital to maintaining and extending the high level of impact, support and recognition this Service engenders within the Hospital community. In this position you will conduct training need assessment and design, deliver, and evaluate training interventions. This role researches and selects the most appropriate resources, instructional strategies, and media to achieve the clients learning objectives. You will also provide instruction on training techniques and strategies to less experienced trainers.
Qualifications:
*Master of Divinity (or equivalency as determined by ACPE) from accredited theological seminary.
*Ecclesiastical endorsement from ones religious body.
*Enrollment or completion of Supervisory CPE.
*Ordination or commissioning from religious body.
*Certification as ACPE Supervisory candidate with passed theory papers.
*1 1/2 to 2 years ACPE supervisory experience.
*Strong critical thinking, organizational, analytical, problem solving, communication and customer service skills.
*Must be able to handle multiple tasks, work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions as needed.
*Associate or fully certified Supervisor preferred.

This role will supervise CPE students, supervisors and office personnel. This person is responsible for recruiting, interviewing and selecting students for designated CPE programs while developing and maintaining the CPE program.
Requirements:
*Master of divinity degree from an accredited theological school.
*Minimum of 3 years' hospital experience as a chaplain
*Minimum of 3 years' as an ACPE supervisor.
*Certification as an ACPE and/or NACC supervisor and appropriate ecclesiastical endorsement.
*Required knowledge of Psychology, Theology and Education.
*Expertise required for individual and group supervision skills and APCE standards.
*Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with local pastors, denominational and seminary representatives in a collegial and pastoral manner.

At level of Senior Behavioral Health Consultant – full-time, to serve in the complementary roles of teaching interfaith Clinical Pastoral Education and serving as a hospital chaplain serving all faiths. A Master of Divinity or equivalent degree is required, as is completion of Supervisory Clinical Pastoral Education in an accredited program.
