He addresses, “What do chaplains in health care need to know about motivation and learning? Why do they need these ideas and theories?” “Practical Bearings” offers the most thorough and current resources for pastoral educators and pastoral practitioners through the generous support of the John Templeton Foundation and HealthCare Chaplaincy.

Tanenbaum, www.tanenbaum.org, is a secular, non-sectarian, not-for-profit organization that overcomes religious intolerance and builds respect for religious diversity by training professionals in healthcare facilities, workplaces, and schools, and by supporting the work of religious peacemakers in areas of armed conflict. Their Religious Diversity in Healthcare program trains providers at all levels to offer religiously and culturally competent patient care. Whether it is an issue of diet, dress/modesty, holiday observance, communications style or informed consent, providers need to know how their patients' religious beliefs impact treatment and decision-making.
